Both of my G87s have Munich-level fit and finish. Multiple people who’ve seen them have guessed that it cost more than it does.
BTW, Zandvoort Blue is an incredible color. If you want constant positive validation from randoms, pick it. |

Porsche has been successfully building and then selling Cayennes made in Slovakia. Haven't heard any negative feedback about that, and I think the sales numbers indicate most people don't care.
What I'm saying is... I'll trust the brand, and what they sell me as quality when I pick up my car. "Where it's made" is just another thing to try and pick apart IMO. With the Mexican plant being the newest and "best", you'd think they'll be watching Quality Control like a hawk.

OK, after that I have to jump in
Having owned an Alfa, which is now a Stelantis brand, I feel I can comment. Talk about quality control, none of the Stelantis brands can assemble a car, let alone actually engineer a good product, regardless of country of assembly. Every make in the brand is a box of shit.

Instead of trying to address the question, you simply threw the race card, what a JOKE. The only racist comments I've read in this thread are the one where you falsely labelled a Hispanic member as racist for asking a legit question and then this one, where you double down on it. |

Not to mention historical (and in some cases still, current) QC of Jaguar, MG, Triumph, Peugeot, Renault, Fiat, Alfa or the big three.
My MIM G42 is the best car I have owned in almost 45 years of ownership

My two cents:
You can stay at the Four Seasons in nearly every country. It's always good. You can also order a hamburger from Mcdonalds in every country. It's the same ( except for local menu options) in every country. Point is, it's the Brand that dictates the quality/feel/finish. Not always the country of manufacturing. Costs and the choice of manufacturing is not always profit+materical cost+labour cost=MSRP. There are taxes in and out, fuel, shipping/vessel cost, and government incentives. At the end of the day regardless of where any of these cars are made, they must not only pass the same multiple QC checkpoints for the country they are built in. But the country they are being sold into. First hand experience. It looks and feels better in quality than my G05.... which is also made outside of Germany in some third world country Last edited by Click_ID; 05-03-2023 at 07:10 PM.. So here is a true story:
My 2018 340i ZHP was built in Germany. That car had atrociously numb steering, and unless you used dry lube in all the window sills, it would creak and rattle like an old Datsun. Drove me nuts. My 2021 M2C (also built in Germany) is built like an absolute tank. No rattles, no nothing after over 2 years of ownership. This is one of the main reasons I have no intention of selling it. It's rare to have a car this well put together. I've had tons of cars over the years built in many different countries, and to me, the M2 is the best built one so far. So maybe, just maybe...M cars are built to a higher standard than regular BMWs? |

Ms are more overbuilt tho; more oil coolers, stiffer subframes, etc, and can take more abuse in some ways. So in that sense I guess you could say it's a "higher standard?" But like, window motors and leathers and HVAC fans and stuff? Probably not. |

My main peeve on a car are: Rattles!
Nothing can make an awesome car feel like trash faster than a dash rattle. Years ago I bought a Audi R8 (w/gated shift..save the manuals!) and one day after delivery was beset by all sorts of rattles. Fortunately, the dealership fixed all in one visit, but man, the car felt like I bought a used Yugo! As kids we used to drive MK2 GTIs, and those things were held together with pop-rivets. We used to take the whole interiors out and silicon and screw everything back together. I never want to do that again! LOL! |
