Hey guys, been having a strange reoccurrence with my revs on downshifts. They hang and feel really sloppy, almost like the engine is revving twice/stuttering on one blip instead of a sharp grunt.
A couple years back when this first occurred, I was getting vanos solenoid codes. Cleaned them, cleared the codes and everything went back to normal. Now the hang is back, but now I’m getting a single code (P1030) which is valvetronic related… Decided to throw in a spare valvetronic motor I had around to see if that was the issue, but I’m still getting the p1030 which leads me to believe that it is the eccentric shaft sensor (yes I recalibrated). My concern is 1. Theoretically, I’m supposed to be running on the failsafe throttle body. Is it normal for my revs to hang the way they do with a bad eccentric shaft sensor? 2. Is safe for me to drive to work till I get the new ESS and valve cover kit? My car is a 2007 e92 328i 6MT (RWD Sport) Your opinions are greatly appreciated! |
