Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement Question
For those who have replaced the crankshaft position sensor, did you access the sensor from above or below? There are some videos of people changing sensors on e90's from below which might be simpler - but I'm not sure that applies to the 335d.
Any DIY hints from those who have done this from either above or below would be appreciated - thanks! |

Definitely doesn't apply to the 335d. You'll be doing both. Access to the sensor is from above, but you'll need to get under the car and use a myriad of straight and wobble extensions to get the one starter bolt out via the transmission tunnel as the starter has to be removed for access. Once it's out and the old sensor is out, clean the hole and make sure it's seated properly before putting everything back together.
Also do yourself a favour, OE sensor or bust. This is not a job you wanna do twice because you wanted to save a few bucks on an aftermarket sensor.
