Flex or PC

Which one to get and why?

Rotary is 2 powerful and heavy for me for right now.
Had surgery

Both are good, but the FLEX is more powerful, and the trigger is pressure sensitive, so you can alter the speed of the buffer by how much you push it.

One of my detailing buddies, Brandon, also feels that it vibrates less than his PC.

Either way, with proper use of either machine, you can pretty much accomplish anything.

My PC 7424 has gotten out wetsanding marks after repainting my own front end.. .I was able to buff into area's that I wasn't able to with the rotary due to the rotary having the ability of burning paint very easily.

Let me know if you would like me to post a picture of the results from the PC 7424 taking out 2000 and 2500 grit sanding marks .

rotaries are heavy? honestly i don't know how heavy the PC and Flex are, but my Hitachi is pretty light and I can keep it under control pretty easily. With that said, i'm a pretty skinny guy.

if you had to choose between a PC or Flex though, get the flex. it'll save you a lot of time

Get the Flex, it will save a lot of time and effort. Also it vibrates a lot less than the PC IMO and is more comfortable.

According to Amazon, the PC 7424 is 8.5lbs, the hitachi Hitachi SP18VAH is 9.2 lbs, the Metabo Pe12-175 is 13lbs, but the Makita 9227C is 8.7lbs

So yeah, I guess the PC is lighter, but don't rule out the Makita. I couldn't find a weight on the Flex but it seems like it'd be heavier just because the gear mechanism is more robust.

as far as weight, both weight about the same but if you use 6.5" backing plate then bigger counter-weight is recommended for PC (I wonder if it's going to weigh more at the end).

The problem with Flex is "forced dual action", gear is providing the agitation which means it pulls like rotary when polish-compound getting close to done (flash point) and get sticky, semi-dry.

All in all, polishing is hard work so not sure what is the best for people after surgery.

i have the makita, flex, and used to have a PC. PC is the more tiresome IMO, because it takes longer to do the job.

Yea I already have the DeWalt and its 2 heavy, tiring, powerful because
of my wrist surgery + Im a novice so I think Im gonna go flex.

i went with pc. ordered at autogeek with light swirl remover kit with pinnacle xmt. i'm excited to use it! just waiting for it to come tomorrow.
