Hi all so I have a manual transmission e91 328xi. I know that a flatbed is supposed to be used instead of a tow truck on this car, but here is the issue. My car lives in a parking garage that has a maximum height of around 7 feet. I know that a standard tow truck can get up it because I’ve seen other cars get towed that are illegally parked, but there’s no way my car on top of a flatbed would fit. Would the best thing to do is put it in neutral and try and roll it down 4 stories and hopefully be able to turn the steering wheel with the car off to get it out of the garage and on to a flatbed?

I would roll it in neutral myself, when the car is rolling its not that hard to steer.

Most tow trucks will have dollies to be used with AWD cars too.

So it’s bad for the transfer case to have the car on a tow truck but it’s not bad for the transfer case for me to roll the car? Also Good thought on the wheel dollies.

Key diff is that all four wheels are rotating at roughly the same speed when rolling.

Pushing/rolling/rope-towing it out of the garage will be fine.

The key difference is that all 4 wheels are turning, and you're only traveling perhaps 1/8 of a mile, and doing it at very low speed.

Towing several miles at highway speed is a different story.

That all makes sense, will try to push it out and if that fails will go with the tow truck / dollies route. Thanks all!
