Just wrapping up my part in this thread (although I may return to it in time to come).
Everything was going well until I did several WOT pulls and got my first ever error code for a misfire in 11 years at around 6k. Thought it was the .023 gapping but for full disclosure, after checking my logs I was over-fuelling at that point so I rejigged my fuel map and it disappeared. However, I didn't go up to .024 because it did concern me that it might have been a factor given that I've over-fuelled at various points on maps loads of times in the past without getting a misfire so my guess is that I am on the limit for the boost i'm running. Upon further tweaking my map I've managed to get a higher mpg with a change to my timing map. I feel it would muddy the waters now to say that changing the spark plug gap will have made a difference so leaving them at .023 for now. Am acheiving a stable 25 psi with no issues and clean logs. |

I fail to see how .001" change in spark plug gap would make any difference at all. I would think that other variables like ambient temps, intake air temps, and fuel quality would have a much larger (although pretty minor) affect on things. Just the way you use the feeler gauge to measure the gap would probably lead to a .001" +/- difference. One persons"just right" is another persons "to tight" or "to lose".
