B58

I saw an article suggesting that the two port B58 will get 370 HP in 2023.

Does anyone know what this means for the six port B58?

He's referring to the exhaust ports. The current B58 has a conventional manifold while the original, lower HP version had an oddball 2-port exit. Are they even still making that version of the engine at this point?

My understanding is that the six port engine is the 382 hp engine in the M340i, Z4, X3 M40, M440 and the post 2021 Supra. The two port is the current 335 hp engine in the X5, 540i, 740i, etc.

I'm hoping the six port engine gets a corresponding power bump and that this isn't a consolidation to a single 370 hp engine.

This thread (directly above in the sticky section) is where the most up to date inside info resides. No one really uses port count to identify the motors, hence the confusion.

The M1 B58 variant as noted is being updated to M2 370hp. (and retaining the 2 port)

No info yet around the O1 variant (382hp) being updated which could mean a variety of things. 1) it's not being updated for a while as 382 hp is still more than the M2 2) an update might come later but only for select markets as emissions and other restrictions roll out 3) it is never being updated and eventually merges into the M2. 4) something else? with hybridization the level electric assist could become a power differentiator

Follow along as we all get more info:

Any news on the oil consumption issues that Supra owners were suffering with the revised motor for '21? Sounded like it was pretty ugly.

So the 2020 M340i on up have the six port head. Its just the 2020 Supra that has the two port?
