Makes sense... wasn't sure if this was some new development, so wanted to confirm.

Thx

I've been doing some research

https://bimmercat.com/bmw/en/search/...ce/49545/S534A

If you really want a shot at making that automatic climate control work

there is a couple of more things you will need

AUC sensor
Sun sensor
wiring harness for Automatic climate control (depending on if your airbox has Denso or Valeo brand, each brand has a different harness)
unknown amount of flapper motors (that will plug into the harness mentioned above)
emergency switch with climate controls
rear passenger ac control
airduct that actually passes air to the back
sealing plate that seals the line from the ac compressor into the cabin
Condensation sensor

please add on to this if I missed anything

p.s. judging from the amount of work going into this I would look into upgrading the audio system and/or IDrive at the same time just because the amount of parts you will need to disassemble (dash, center console, carpeting)
here is a reference of what you potentially will need to do

Don't bother with this, buy a heater core housing with the cable already attached, if you get just the cable and flapper there's additional work you have to do, like resync the flapper positions

Differences in equipment between e82/E9 manual air con vs automatic air con

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZEj...w?usp=drivesdk

I've also found the wiring diagram for AUC (air quality) sensor

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1q-q...ew?usp=sharing

AUC sensor gets power from fuse 15 in the junction box for cars between 2007/03 - 2007/08
AUC sensor can be grounded to this location under the passenger side carpet
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SNI...ew?usp=sharing

AUC data is passed to BCM module on the left side plug
https://drive.google.com/file/d/14s2...usp=drive_link

under PIN 16

Sun sensor wiring can be plugged directly into the existing black plug from your manual AC wire under PIN 8 (yellow and red wire), AUC has another brown wire for grounding I believe, feel free to tap into any other existing ground wire

rear AC control panel for rear passenger consist of 3 wires
that all plug into the existing BCM module
https://drive.google.com/file/d/14s2...usp=drive_link

ground wire (black/brown) PIN 3 from vent connector to BCM plug PIN 8
blue/grey wire PIN 2 from vent connector to BCM plug PIN 24
blue/yellow wire PIN 1 from vent connector to BCM plug PIN 12

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WWc...ew?usp=sharing

Condensation sensor glued under light/rain sensor
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZGg...w?usp=drivesdk

that plugs into FZD
