Single turbo install no boost
Hello everyone I’m having some trouble with my car so I recently installed an on3 kit on my 2007 335i 6mt. I know it’s not the best kit but it beats smoking oem turbos . Anyway the car is tuned by wedge performance, I installed a GFB III, 3.5 map, all vacuum lines are new, the tial mvr wastegate has been plugged correctly, everything in terms of installation was smoother than I expected. Car idles good and I do not get any codes , but I’m not getting any boost at all, zero. I even tried running a linear only setup and plugged wastegate straight into turbo with no luck (I plugged the waste-gate differently for this). I reopened Wastegate to see if maybe something was wrong but all springs were set to the right colors and at 14psi. The orange gasket is good and it is not a knock off it’s a real tial. Also all Intercooler piping is solid . No smoke on vacuum test ..What else can be my issue somebody help !

If you are truly getting zero boost you would most certainly hear a boost leak somewhere. Do you hear any air coming out from a certain side of the engine bay?

It's an issue with the wastegate one way of the other.
You would have to have a MASSIVE boost leak to make 0 boost on a single.

Okay so I’m using the tial mvr 44mm. With the electronic boost controller I plugged all air holes except for one on the bottom and one on top for vacuum lines , I didn’t forget to install the metal o ring, clamp is on good . I used 14psi springs then changed them to 13. I used the correct chart for the mvr. No cracked or bends on the orange seal. Also when I did a linear setup I did change the plugs around . Left one open on top, and only ran on line on a bottom port . I’m certain the lines from the ebc are ran correctly as I check it over and over I’ve taken the setup apart like 10 times already lol 😂 I tried to upload a video and some photos, I have full on vids and pictures of how I ran a the lines and setup everything . If anyone has some time I open to all suggestions .

For the electronic boost I plugged all except one on top to run a line , and one on the bottom for another line and plugged all the rest . For the linear I plugged all except left top open for atmosphere, and ran one line to the bottom .

I still don't understand why people prefer to run the GFB III vs. boost box. I have seen many a post with people having issues with them.
It's your wastegate at the end of the day, the reason it's probably open is your GFB III. Again, unless you have a massive boost leak.

Hi mate, just wondering how you are determining that you're getting no boost? If you have a boost leak so serious that you're literally not getting any boost then it should be pretty obvious from the noise. If the turbo is not spinning then same thing with exhaust gasses, it would be pretty clear that something isn't right because that exhaust has to go somewhere. If you're just looking at a boost gauge or counter somewhere then I'd question if you're getting a proper reading? Sorry if this seems a bit basic, just need to rule stuff out.

Also, the horror stories ive heard of them spiking boost, as well as motor #2 of my own going well above 33lbs when it should of been 27. And my tuner, isnt a big fan of them. Him running a 3 port even with a gfb being "stuck open" would/should still target the 13 he has the springs set at as its mechanical not electrical. |

It isn't possible to route your vacuum lines in a way to have 0 boost. Only wastegate pressure or higher. If you're getting less than wastegate pressure you have a leak on either the exhaust side or the cold side. Have you tried a boost leak test yet?

Did you ever find the solution? I’m having the same problem. 3.5 tmap, dr kit with dual 44 mvs tial gates. Took them apart many times and put back together with same issue. There is no boost leak anywhere. And springs are correctly installed. . I also have a tial bov which makes no stutter when giving load.
