Socal diesel guys... where are you taking your cars?

My wife's 335d has a couple codes. She has 120k miles, and about 60k since carbon cleaning. I'm not sure where to start with all this crap...

I'm thinking so. Do the swirl flaps do anything when the car is driving and comes to a compete stop? I noticed it often hiccups after coming to a stop.

Those smooth running controller faults are the ones that generally mean carbon build up.

Save yourself the time because last I checked Rob doesn't do diesels. He typically refers all his diesel customers to me.

Check out the NABDOG page on FB. Besides that, Countdown bmw motorwerkz in Hemet does carbon cleanings for diesels for 500. Best price in all of SoCal - I've sent probably 3 dozen people to them. I am in LA County. I have a good friend near Moorpark that can do your deletes. PM me if interested. 335d is solid when, and only when, it is deleted.

Further, I have a group chat on FB for everyone in Ca with diesels. Tons of us here in SoCal, tons up north. 75 or so ppl in there. Can't wait to arrange the next meet!

Unfortunately I can't recommend Countdown for carbon cleaning, I went with them based on all their good recommendations but they honestly did a half assed job on my car. I had to do my valve cover gasket within 1000 miles of their carbon cleaning on my fully deleted car and they pretty much skipped all the ports that go through the middle of the head. I got pictures and will be contacting them shortly but I'm not happy at all.

Man $500.00 is a great price considering how difficult and time consuming the job is. The M57 is nowhere near as "easy" as the N54, the dozen or so E90's I've overseen at the Norwalk store was a one to two day event in just walnut shell blasting alone. In addition we've had to send out the valve cover and intake manifold in most cases to a machine shop for hot tanking and a good thorough chemical wash. Our facilities parts wash station couldn't do the job due to stubborn build up.

Hi all, I bought my 2011 335d (85,000 miles) a few months ago. After a while I installed a JBD. I now have a P20EE error code and after reading the forums I thought it was the NOX sensors which would be covered under extended emissions warranty. I took out the JBD and took my car to Long Beach BMW for an oil change/DEF exchange ($285!) And thought they would do the NOX under warranty but they wanted several hours labor to diagnose the SES P20EE code. I'm nervous to pay several hundred dollars for the dealer to check the car out and have it not be covered under the extended emissions warranty and then have to take to an Indy shop for repairs (I won't pay dealer hourly rates). Additionally, I'm thinking a CBU will likely be needed. So I have two questions...
1. Is there anyone around Huntington Beach that can take a test drive with me in my car to tell me if it has the power it should have? It feels underwhelming in power.
2. Will someone please recommend an Indy shop around me for maintenance and carbon cleaning?

Thanks in advance to everyone that responds!

honestly, take it to the dealer. i tried the indi shop thing with my wife's 335d and it backfired. they screwed some shit up. just bend over at the dealer or sell it. california isn't kind to diesels.

Thank you for your advice. I have hope that the SES problem will be covered under the extended emissions warranty and at that point the cost of diagnostics would be waved.

I'm still anxious for someone to take a ride with me and see if my car feels slow. I previously had a 2007 335i with JB+ that felt very fast and a 2012 535 with JB4 that less than impressive. I was hoping for this 335d to feel very strong with the JBD but I'm not feeling it.

depends on what codes are. we had a def tank heater code and they replaced the whole tank. it would have been something like $4,500 on top of the other problems we were having, but we were 500 miles shy of the 120,000 mile emissions warranty. still cost us $3k to get it smog legal to sell it for $8k.

it worked out ok. the def tank was covered, but we still had to pay the money to get it fixed to sell it. broken, it was probably a $3k car, but put $3k into it and sell it for $8k, so it worked out. just inconvenient.
