What are you waiting for? Go to radioshack and pick up a male to male and it will work on the car. I have it already and works fine. I think I only paid about $4.

It will be expensive. so prepare your wallets.
But it will be a must have if you depend on the ipod for your music.

I went to the ipodyourbmw website and I saw the MSRP is $195 in the U.S. and it could take about an hour to install at your dealer. $195 seems reasonable. I recall seeing some folks say that it would around $500, but those posts were pretty old.

Does anyone here know better? I figure what they have on their website is the actual price and not a bait and switch.

Is it really worth it to use the sterring wheel button to chang the track? You still have to look at the screen to see what you are playing. Just put the damn IPOD behind the shifter connected to the aux input in the arm rest and just change the damn track with the IPOD. When you get ready to get out of your car just put it in the arm rest. Really, you guys make is so hard and waste of your money. What do I know. I only paid $4 for my connection. Good luck to the rest of you waiting to use your IPOD.

I'd be surprised if you could get it installed for less than $400. It's just a guess though, so we'll have to wait and see. If it's cheap enough I'll probably get it. Otherwise, I'll buy the 30$ belkin car charger. It just uses the dock connector and has an aux out on the cigarette adapter so I can keep the Ipod by my E-brake and only have 1 wire running into the center console. Seems like a pretty clean solution to me.

I have to check it when my wife gets back with my IPOD. What integration are we talking about. Mine worked fine. I selected the AUX and it played with no problem. Is it suppose to show up on the dash?

There's a new interface that BMW is releasing this summer that will integrate the IPOD into the MOST system in the car. It uses the dock connector so you can control the IPOD from your steering wheel and see the songs etc. on your car display.

the integration allows you to put your ipod in the glovebox, and you can control it via your radio switch or the steering wheel switch, you can also see the song titles in your dash.

But you still have to look at the dash for song selection. I'm not willing to pay for that and will have to do without. I wish they had the same technology as the BOSE 321 GSX home theater system. If no one has it, it is awesome for just 2 speakers. Anyway the system saves over 200 cd with having a big cd changer. That would be nice to incorporate something like that with the Bimmer. The nano ipod is small so I can't see why it wouldn't be possible.

i saw a pic of someone that had the integration in europe, i cant find the thread right now, but on their dash before the vents above the radio was a seperate small screen about 3/4 inch in height and 4 inches wide scrolled the song name and whatever from their ipod, the light colors matched the radio display and looked pretty freakin sweet, but it was only for the stock euro stereo

That's the Ipod integration that's available now, for non I-drive cars. The one that's coming out this summer is an I-drive integration so your songs, etc. show up on the nav screen and you control the IPOD like you would any other radio component.

See this post for more info:

Nice self explanatory video on : http://www.bmwusa.com/ipod

ps - waiting for delivery of my 320 Graphite Edition end of June, but think my dealer is getting real upset with me lately as I am pushing him weekly for an iPod implementation update!

I use my iPod now and have since last December. The main advantage of the iPod integration is that the info will be display on the head unit or i-Drive.
