There's no best setting it depends on your car/transmission

Try the shift point presets and adjust to your taste.

I have disabled start in 2nd gear for M mode, also maxed out upshift speeds, throttle blips slowed down because I don't like the jerking on downshift on lower gears.

I did similar settings to Saif2018. But I went with Nelson paddle shifters and only drive the car in Sport manual mode. I enjoy it so much more that way. I messed with the regular drive settings a lot and could never get it to do exactly what I wanted.

I've got the v1 Silver paddles, one of the best mods I did. I also use M mode often, I don't use DS mode, just D and M mode.

I opted for the V2's when I ordered. I thought it was Sport manual? Because if you don't slap the shifter over and just start shifting it's not true manual mode. But if you slap it into DS then start shifting it is. I'm with you. Probably use Drive 10% of the time, otherwise it's full manual mode for me. DS is cool but I've never needed it. I suppose if you were extremely focused on driving fast through twisties it could be nice, otherwise manual mode works best. I love manual cars(grew up in that era) and my brother has one, but with xhp and nelson paddles the auto is actually pretty damn cool.

D mode i use for comfort and until the engine /tranny had some heat it in. I don't like using M mode until I have driven for a bit.
Also love the v2 Nelson paddles , they are amazing.
M mode is great for race car. 2-6 I think I maxed up shift speed. If you find this too harsh while shifting normally take your foot off the gas like you would in a manual car and they are not as harsh.
For down shift throttle blips I may have slightly sped them up. Except from 2>1 I slowed way down for coming to my driveway.
I haven't touched the torque reduction settings at all.

If you use m throttle on MHD also effects the throttle blips a bit. I settled on 70% for M1 throttle map.

One thing to note is MHD v10 has slightly changed the shifting with XHP. I may need to make more adjustments if i stay on this map. I find 5>6 shift harsh now on V10.

Ds mode i don't use at all.

Yeah, if the shifter stays in D and you use the paddles, it shifts temporarily to the next gear and switches back to D, it's not M mode. You'd need to move it to DS and then use the paddles as you said.

The satisfaction of Manual transmission can't be replicated with any auto, but using paddles to shift is fun. I still need to adjust DS shift points, just haven't got round to it, hold 4th gear way too long before shifting into 5th with my custom shift points. Hopefully I'll get it dialed in to a point where I don't use D mode at all, just DS and M mode. D mode just feels sluggish to me.

M mode is the way to go

This right here. There are so much different settings and adjustments you can make....it's basically all personal choice.

The one thing that turns me off on the custom trans tunes like that is that you lose the ability to tinker with all the settings on your own. The nice thing about xHP is that you can play around with all the settings.....and change them anytime you want.

I don't want to have to get a tuner involved every time I want to adjust some shift/trans settings.

Agree with this 100%.
If I recall correctly his tunes also caused more wear to the clutch packs. Xhp is so good I see zero need to get a custom trans tune.

It’s literally a whole new car with rod’s tune. Do it! Zero cold jerkiness, shifts are consistent, never thump going up or down, way faster and simultaneously smoother than any XHP map and you can order a tune with revisions. Absolutely amazing tune, XHP software is great but the OTS tunes aren’t even in the same ballpark.

Do you have any ability to tinker with the settings on Rods tunes?

With so many "modes".......drive, sport, manual....it sure it sure it nice to be able to set things how YOU want them....for each mode. Not sure I would be happy with a shift tune I could never adjust. Just too many things that you can set up for a really custom feel....too bad he can't make his tunes where you could adjust them with xHP.

You can't set them up yourself, but you can tell him what your goals are and he'll make a tune to your needs, similar to a DME tune from Wedge or something I feel you, I'm very much a set it and forget it guy so it's perfect for me and I enjoy his tune a lot more than the OTS but if you like messing with the settings and dialing it yourself then the XHP maps are prob the way to go. That would be sweet if you could further adjust Rod's tunes too

Same. I messed with XHP for a few weeks and that was it. Honestly aside from a few settings I don't see the need to move shift points. manual mode is the way to go.

If you drag race your car a lot...it can really help to dial in shift points for consistency and speed. Also, adjusting torque per gear is handy. Lots of settings to tinker with.

Any advice for set the XHP options for drag? Would like to avoid the "drag mode"

Make sure you have the line pressure bump option turned on. Other than that, I just use the standard settings....launch in 2nd gear in manual mode, and shift manually as I go down the track.

I tried playing with all the settings...but honestly, they don't do much if you are shifting manually.
