Broken hose of some sort?
Hey all,
Was working on my 2009 335i, jacking my car up, neglecting to clean off the center jack point, when the shitty harbor freight jack slid off the point and smashed 2 hoses in the front lower engine bay. Avoidable and stupid mistake, and have replaced the black coolant hose already, but a new leak has emerged that I neglected to address. There is a oily, brown fluid leaking from what looks like the 2nd hose that was crushed in the carnage. I have been searching all over bimmerpost and google to help identify the hose that was busted, and have narrowed it down to what looks like either and oil or power steering hose, but I cant seem to put my finger on it. Anyone happen to know where this hose connects to? A part number would also be much appreciated if possible.

Transmission Cooler
That looks like one of the transmission cooler lines that goes to the heat exchanger. (the silver thing at the top of the first photo) I would wager that the "oily brown fluid" you are seeing is transmission fluid. I would not drive the car until you get that repaired. Then do at least a fluid change to remove any contaminants from your transmission.
Also, please, please use as much caution as you can muster when lifting any vehicle. People have died from such things....so not worth it! |

I believe you are completely correct as shortly after the incident, My transmission had started causing complete and utter chaos. I thought that my solenoids were going bad, but it looks like it could have been from the sheer amount of fluid loss. Hopefully I have not completely cooked it and this may be fixed by repairing the leak and replacing the fluid.

Looks like from the pictures that could be quite possible. What kind of damage would there be from that kind of impact to the pulley?
