Stock turbo N54 fbo inlets, outlets, FMIC, ETC. losing power at top end what tune???
Hi everybody, I know this topic has been heavily covered, but I bought this n54 last year rebuilt the motor and rebuilt the turbos myself and my mods are injen intakes, FMIC, inlets, outlets, charge pipe and blowoff valve, high flow cats, 2 step colder plugs, and new Bosch coils, and a 2nd cats delete.
And when I bought this car the guy was a buyer and seller and know nothing about the car, I am new to this mhd jb4 and Cobb stuff. I put a boost gauge on the car NOT knowing wether it had a tune or not and at full throttle 6000 rpm it made 15 lbs of boost with all these mods now it thinking this has a tune and really have no way of knowing. so I live in DC and they have an emissions testing where they plug the computer in to check all systems, I haven’t done that yet, and with a tune I don’t think it will pass it, so my main question is what tune should I do to make it run well and somewhat reliable? I’m thinking mhd stage one plus? I have no idea. If anyone has these mods what tune to do? Thanks. |

I know nothing about emissions but with MHD you can flash an OEM file back on for your emissions test and when you're done flash back to your tune although there is a counter in the DME for # of times flashed fwiw. I would either get MHD and/or a BMW scanner so you can check the codes/readiness state of the systems. Fwiw, I think the mhd license is like $250, you'll need a compatible phone/tablet, and a $40 DCAN cable.

The MHD will show what monitors are ready for smog from catalyst to evap and so on... it will show complete or incomplete telling you when its time to head to the smog station.
It will also allow you to purchase map packs for standard one size fits all tunes (or get super license includes all stages and monitor license so you can datalog too other wise a la carte) to add it will also be versatile when uploading customs tunes since most tuners upload their custom tunes into cars through mhd in my experience at least you can check codes and datalog to see whats in and out of range I would recommend this route given what you want to do P.S recommend Trebilia tuning |
