Lol i have nest thermostats and they aren't faulty, they just never do what i want them to do. I can program a schedule and then nest will override the schedule based on the season and savings. It self learns and does the opposite of what i want it to do. Its pretty annoying.

You can turn that seasonal/learning off.

Yeah ecobee has the same thing. I think its called ecobee+ or something like that to "save" power. First thing I do is turn that crap off. You do what I say when I say it!!!

My older Ecobee installed a major firmware update last spring without asking, and it changed many of the display settings on it. The update also turned off the heat when it rebooted and didn't turn it back on. If we were away and it was a bit colder, we might have arrived home to frozen pipes!

We don't use any of the energy "saving" features on the Ecobee, and rarely adjust it remotely. I only installed it because I was mad at the thermostat that came with our house, which would fail to turn on the heat whenever its AA batteries died with no warning. My next thermostat will probably be a Z-Wave unit by Honeywell or someone else, with a local Z-Wave radio connection to my Home Assistant server for monitoring/control.....

I take it that you haven't heard about Amazon Sidewalk creating a mesh to track your movement and relay data to the cloud?
