320D 2012

I have a 2012 320D BMW Touring and got Engine light on.

It was going on and off every few hundred miles, now it's on permanently.

I had the EGR and cooler replaced by BMW 2 years ago under recall but getting juddering at low throttle pulling away and checking codes get 4CAE EGR Controller Position Sensor Signal.

If I reach under the EGR Cooler I can move the lever freely.

Took the cover off the EGR Valve and at idle it's dancing from open to closed all the time. Much worse than this -

Tempted to just replace the EGR valve but as it's only 2 years old was hesitant.

As it was a recall from BMW also considering if I should take it back to them.

If I clear the code - it comes back within a few trips

Also Exhaust is smelling more than normal.

All pointing to EGR Valve issues?

Slight necro, did you ever get to the bottom of this? I've got a similar '11 320d and I'm trying to research my issue before throwing another EGR valve in there

I did replace the EGR vavle and is going "dancing" same as the old one so its definitely not from the EGR (my opinion) but im still trying to find what is causing this, does anyone had this before?
