CIC Starting Navigation System.... stalled.

Hi, hoping someone can help on here please?

Just purchased an E90 with Business CIC system. Everything works on it except the navigation. When I select it all that I get is Starting Navigation System... and the circular timer icon.

I have an pic see attached...

The chap i bought it from made me aware of the issue but did not alude to how it happened. From reading some posts on here I suspect he might of tried to update the Maps and failed...but of course i cannot be sure of that.

Can anyone help me give it a nudge to get it working for me please?!

That is what it looks like, if you leave it does the nav grey out? and its says something like "nav unavailable).

I would get a copy of the map data and try the update again and hope that it takes it.

Thing with the Business nav is that the car has to be moving to do the update, it wont load on the bench.

Now that is very odd you said that... I had some help from another group member and i now have a map update but it would not move past 0.0% saving navigation. Today i tried again and i just happened to move the car and it went to 2.5% but never moved again after i had stopped.

Maybe if i'd moved again it might of continued!

Why do you have to move for Business update to progress? Never had to do it with my old Professional/Premium update? Any ideas?

The car must be in motion for the whole time the update is going on.

No, its just the way that it works on that Nav type.

Are you sure it is not just a voltage level issue instead?

Well knock me down with a feather duster!!! 1hr and 30 miles up and down the M4 and M25 and I have a fully updated and working Navigation!

The irony of it is the version is called MOTION!

Yes, I did think that at first hence the decision to charge it up especially since it's spent the last 5 months parked, only covering 300 miles in that time.

I do think there is some relevance, but then again even with a fully charged battery it would not progress further until the car was in motion.

Yeah it is a strange one, its the only bmw system that does this...

Sorry to revive this thread, but I'm in the same situation.
I can't get into any of the navigation menus.

How did you get to update your maps a 2nd time?
I'm locked out of the navigation menus.

Have you saved any audio to the hdd? Can you play that? If that can't be played, most likely is a hdd fail.

Ask my stored music works flawlessly.
Just the navigation tab is now greyed out.
