Limp mode with SSTT o_O
all right, i got in my car and before i started anything, the cabin temperature seemed a lot hotter than normal (i drove it before with the AC on and it sits in the garage, no reason to be hot at all).
I started my car normally, then all of a sudden, the half engine code came up in my dash indicating engine malfunction and limited power. my first limp mode. I started freaking out. I pulled out of the garage and onto my driveway. I turned off the car, opened the hood, and double checked the connections (i only run SSTT ONLY). The connections were fine, so I turned the engine on again, and there are no more error codes. I was driving down to a meet and decided to do some WOT pulls in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. The car ran quite fast, but didnt seem to have the muscular thrust as I had felt before (lack of torque?). The speed according to the dash seemed normal, but the tachometer didnt seem to move up the rev band as much as it did before. I pulled the windows down to listen to any problems, and it SEEMED as if the turbos weren't spooling (could barely here the whine). Most likely it's all in my head... I started the car this morning and no problems whatsoever. The power deliver seems to have improved, I can hear the turbos a little better. Is there any problems with the car or the SSTT? I've read numerous threads and haven't really come upon people with any issues with SSTT unless it was with a air filter, but even then, the issues seem to be remote. Anyone else have any info on the situation or should I stop bitching? Thanks :P

Could be a batch of bad gas too.

aghh good point. i do have the long crank syndrome. i cant see how i can get a bad batch of gas though. been using 93 octane only (sunoco). hmm... there's a shell near my work place so i'll fill up there. hopefully i wont run into an issue.

I have only gotten the "half engine limp mode icon" once and that was at the track. I thought it was due to high oil temp (i saw 280+), but I called the M-Shop to ask if anyone had seen this before. I was told that the above mentioned icon is not for heat (that icon looks like a thermometer) and that it was probably caused by boost pressure spike from quick juants on and off full throttle. Same as you, it cleared after being shut off and restarted.
Does anyone know if this it true...that the half engine icon is for "other" faults besides temp and if the thermometer icon is for engine coolant or engine oil temp...or both? |

It is always best to get a readout of any stored codes. Otherwise any possible cause would be nothing more than just speculative.

Could be a bad fuel pump. I had mine replaced at about 11,000 miles , then one week later that one failed and had to have that replaced too. Since then, no problems. I'd say it's definitely not the Turbo Tuner.

I dont hear my turbos at all.I mean barely anyways I just changed over to sp dual cones. I had the bms filter and that thing was LOUD. You think something is messing up in my car too? I keep getting limp modes here and there, but no check engine lights. You think they updated my car and im not running doomsday maps?
