Having a hard time installing Vishnu Intake

I got the front one in, but the back one is a PAIN

How far should I insert the couplers into the filters? And how far should I insert the coupler into the receiving tube?

Right now they are just barely touching..does that mean it's wrongly installed?

are you talking about the dual cone intakes? It should be fairly easy to install both once the stock airbox is taken off. my couplers (not from vishnu) go all the way in. I believe Vishnu's do as well. Try moving the hose around a bit and it should wedge right in.

I found following the instructions for the BMS intake works for the Vishnu intake. The rear intake should be installed first. The intakes do touch each other, but that's fine. You want the couplers to go in far enough for the clamps to be effective. Other than that, make sure to minimize any contact of the cones with any hot parts.

Thanks..this helps..

So far what was supposed to be a 15min install has taken 2 hours..lol. Guess I'm overcomplicating things.

Well I took it out for a spin, and I must now say, the car is perfect at last.

The turbo spooling sound REALLY kicks in in the upper rpms...and is just amazingly intoxicating. Sounds like a "Wooooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Haha, almost brought a tear to my eye and I was grinning the whole time. Yes, I'm a loser, lol.

j/k!

Glad you got them to work!

after driving for a bit, the car will adjust to the new amount of air being sucked in, and they'll sound even better! (or you'll just be more keen on hearing the woooooosh)

Mine do not touch. If the rear one is in right there should be a small gap.

I called Vishnu they said if they touch it's no big deal

Mine have 1mm of space between them..

On a side note the metal piece capping the filters gets VERY hot after running the car.

Anyone care to post a pic of how theirs looks in the engine bay just for reference? Vishnu doesn't even have a formal "how-to" for these intakes, so I followed BMS' The wider end of the coupler goes into the filter, correct?

It sounds like you have done everything correctly. If you installed the coupler backwards, I would imagine it wouldn't be working now. I was pleasantly surprised that the whole ordeal only took me about thirty minutes. I have found the standard Vishnu unit of time must be measured with an extremely slow watch, because I have yet to find any of their instructions sufficient for easy installation.

I've installed our dual intakes in less than 4 minutes. This includes removing the bulkhead cover, factory airbox, etc,. I have video proof of it too! Of course, I've done quite a few of them

Cheers,
shiv

I think my computer is sweating from trying to load those pics. Looks okay to me. The filters can and do touch. Just sit the back filter "ring" in the funnel at the top of the front filter. This will keep the filters in place and not bouncing around.

Any discrepancy as to how tight the clamps should be? I imagine if they are too tight the filter coupler may buckle. I basically made them as tight as I comfortably could, without stripping the screw.

cazisk, that's pretty much exactly how mine look. I think its fine if they touch.

excuse the messy engine bay (it's clean now - pics are a few weeks old)

mine are a bit bigger than the BMS/Vishnu intakes so they touch...no biggie

Yeah...Just drove it around some more, and it kind of leaves me wanting more of that induction sound - there's just not enough, I mean it's there, but not enough.

I find myself having to manipulate the gears and throttle input to get the induction sound and the mini blow off valve sounds.

Just wish it were a little more obnoxious sounding, that's all.

Take off the cowl cover on the back of the engine bay and see how loud it gets....

Here is what they look like installed on my car

Those tubes running down the rear filter in the back are touching a bit. Maybe a few zip ties will hold them back.

No. Maybe I'll try to get one.

But the sound is faint - don't expect anything dramatic. When you want to hear it, I would suggest downshifting at around 2k-3k RPM and giving it gas...sounds like a "wooooooshhh" then a "chew" BOV type sound.

Really cool in quiet neighborhoods, on highways I can't hear it much at all.
