I ended up using an extractor to clean the carpets, used an ozone generator to take care of any lasting odors, and then had the interior professionally detailed. All said and done that ran me $260. New carpets were $40.
The trunk was $140 while the rear bumper added another $40. The related bumper brackets/screws were $50. A set of tail lights and trunk lights were $80. Plus the hydraulic pump/press to fix the trunk valance was $140. The car was missing the airbox, MAF, along with the connections so naturally I had a check engine light - I sourced everything I needed in that department for $120. CEL gone. SMOG passed ($40). Title transferred and taxes ($33) Cosmetic-wise, I picked up a set of E60 M5 Style Wheels that had tires with 80-90% tread left for $150. And I had a set of 50th ///M Anniversary Roundels that I never used from last year so I threw those on the wheels/trunk/hood. Lastly, I cleaned up the shifter with a little $10 cover from Amazon. I had new oil/filter/coolant/power-steering fluid on hand so I flushed/replaced those ofcourse. A set of windshield wipers for $15. Then some 20% tints all around were $170. Finally, I ran it through the local car wash at the beginning of a 300 mile test drive (then washed it again after) for a total of $22. Cost Breakdown: BMW E90 325i (2006) - $250 Wash/Detailing - $282 Trunk/Bumper Repairs - $450 Clearing CEL - $120 Wheels/Tires - $150 Carpets/Shifter Cover/Wipers - $65 SMOG/Tax/Title - $73 Tints - $170 TOTAL: $1,560

One question (possible concern?) - $150 for a set of wheels AND tires?? Looking forward to seeing a picture of those installed.. hope there are no surprises. |

Looks great!
I agree with the others - this thing needs to race in LeMons. You'll have the nicest looking car in the field. |

very cool, I like your breakdown. Keep it low as possible !
I'm just wondering why people bother to sell a car at this price, knowing they can have issues and time losses, while the salvage yard would probably give you the same for metal... anyway, better to be saved than crushed, good job ! |

The only real barriers at this point would be the 6-Point Rollcage and Fire Suppression system - the other stuff is easy. Off to google I go to research how to pull it off in the cheapest way while maintaining safety and compliance.

As a nice bonus, I sold the OEM wheels from the car for $200. In addition, as I was checking out the original manuals (mainly out of curiosity) I found 60 bucks in the the packet. So it brings my new total cost down a bit to $1300.

I was reading this article yesterday and thought of you TractionControlDelete
