No kidding but many folks have passed emissions despite removing their primary cats

like someone else said it depends on your state. In toronto we are allow to have one in the no ready state. My scanner is very basic but as you can see in the picture I only have one bad parameter while the other ones are green.

Some people were having the evap not ready but I show green

My emissions are still due in two years but if I going by what I m seeing in my scanner , I should be able to pass the emissions with one in the no ready state

We're all well aware of how different states have different rules. What we're trying to figure out is why same tune on same model cars are yielding different readiness statuses.

I know that

but the last posts that I was reading , it almost seems like some guys were thinking that everyone running catless headers had this issues when that is not the case.

One thing I can think of is that maybe the car software is not the same for everybody , maybe the tune was created for a specific software. I m just throwing that out there.

Had you replaced or disconnected the battery since the last time it had passed emissions?

I may do the same (reload the tune)

I don't believe so, but it's certainly possible. my 128i's been gone for nearly a year now

Still makes no sense lol. If you're in agreement that some have passed, dunno why you'd post: "its call off road tune for a reason... You are removing the primary catalytic converters..."

That implies nobody should be surprised that they're not able to pass.

I know this is an old thread, but I currently am in the same situation as others had mentioned on this thread.

E90 330i with AA headers and tune from AA. Catalyst monitor and o2 sensor monitors are stuck on incomplete after roughly 500 miles of driving.

Any update on others who have had this issue recently, and if anything can be done to get these monitors ready?

I am assuming that I will likely have to go back and forth with AA on a new tune, but as others have mentioned, this may not fix the issue as well.

If anyone is aware of a tuner on here, I would be more than willing to ship out my DME if there is a clear workaround. I know hassmachine has been referenced many times on here, because I have a new account I am not permitted for private messaging

There is nothing you can purchase that will make the readiness flags work with the primary cats removed. The legal implications are unreal.

Intentionally masking EPA status flags can attract very large fines and or jail time.

Can be done, but not worth the risk

Damn, I guess I might be SOL...

Didn't want to have to sell my car (considering it has 265,000 miles and tons of personal time spent to keep it running).

I knew once the OEM cats went out I'd have to face this issue at some point.
