I just texted my boy, he is a bmw tech... really good with our cars... I never heard of anyone getting those codes... last time I got problematic codes I did a soft reset... took the negative terminal off the battery for 10 minutes and then plugged it back in.... but hold that off until I get a reply back from him!!

I got the code 2D1B again today does this mean I need a new pedal assembly?

So maybe your boy can help me with my codes. I only get the normal codes for unplugged exhaust flap (duh) and a downpipe code (also duh), but the car hesitates and stutters. On top of that, it dies at cold start (yes, i installed the flex fuel wires and set the FUE=20). Now I'm also getting a MAF code (MAF has been set back to stock, as JB4 no longer uses it).

Please click this link if you're having issues; this is a link to ALL of the codes.

Edit: deleted that last part of my comment. After re-reading it, I accidentally sounded like a dick! Sorry!

According to this chart the code 2D1B means o2 sensor after catalyst is too lean.

Jb4 says throttle position input position 1?

Sounds like a bad Mass Air Flow Sensor! Those are symptoms of that! Hesitation and stutters are two of those problems... Here is what you can do. Unplug your MAF sensor and if nothing happens there goes your problem. Two things, if your manipulating your maf sensor from your jb4 then figure out how to set it back to stock if you have a factory bmw maf. Or you sensor just went and you need a new one. Your MAF sensor is very vital to your engines performance! Your JB4 relies on that information from that sensor!

My boy is an a$$... I just called him again and he didn't pick up. He works nights and weekends in a shop if you want to bring it by. Otherwise that try and doing the reset to your car. disconnect the negative terminal for about 10 minutes and then reconnect it! If he calls me back I will PM!

Oh balls. I actually reconnect the stock MAF this past weekend. Issue is still there though. I thought the JB4 actually doesn't use the MAF with the ISO 5.3 update?

Coming from a mechanics perspective, I don't see how that is even possible! The Jb4 needs to communicate with that sensor in order to read if the motor is boosting or not. When it reads that it allows the ecu to compensate for timing and fuel, along with your 02 sensors. I can get more technical but this is more easier to understand. Is there any way you could forward me that information about the MAF, and that update?

Also what year is your car(n54or N55) ? Because my car (N54) has a map sensor which is located on the charge pipe close to the throttle body.

This is a great document. Do you happen to have one for the N54?

I'm asking the same thing. As our cars age, a resource like this is huge - a real $ saver.

I was getting 2D2F and 2BCB, so replaced the upstream O2 sensor, right after that I started getting 2D34 (signal fixed at rich) code. Did you ever find out the cause?

I am also noticing lean conditions in my engine.

Thanks!
