My frm is bricked, multiple people on ebay repair for $60 with hundreds of reviews or a name brand website will do it for $250?

I’ve used eBay repair services for other items, they’re good.
It would be a waste of time for the seller to try and scam people, as eBay would easily side with you if the repair was not done.

If what you're doing isn't critical, go for it. Although, I don't know how the mechanic can come to your house and do what you want done for $60.

You purchase the service on eBay and send the item for repair then they send it back.

I’ve done it. No issues. I certainly wouldn’t pay someone $250 for it.

Reading about the actual procedure, $60 seems fair. Once you have the equipment and technique down, it's a quick job.

I used the seller ecu-saver just last week to have my FRM3 eeprom reprogrammed.

https://www.ebay.com/str/ecusaver

The listing, he charges $60. https://www.ebay.com/itm/204246907898

I'll just say that this is a good thread for reference, as I've wondered the same thing. I'm glad to hear that folks have found these services useful.

I do them for $45 through my Insta page, Clustersandcoding. That includes USPS priority shipping back. It's literally a 5 minute repair, takes longer to pack it back up and print a return label.

I did it

Ok did it, here are the actual costs:

$59 to over night to ecu-saver
$60 for them to repair
$38 for them to overnight, their service includes a 2-4 day shipping

Its my sons car and well he has school and work, and we need the car back running so I sprang for the $38 extra.

I will report back once I get it and install.

Thanks for the feedback, this site is great!!

My FRM bricked so many times that I just bought chinese knockoff of the hardware and software needed to revive the FRM.

Job itself takes like 5 minute but you need to have proper equipment. The longest step for me was finding the damn file that matches my car lol.

For someone who knows how to do it efficiently and probably repairs a few back to back 60 is fair in my opinion!
