Parking brake cable stuck on it's "pipe/tunnel"

Hi,

I'm about to drop rear subframe on e92 335i. The parking brake cable is stuck and won't come out from it's pipe/tunnel at the connection point near driveshaft.

We just did same job on e92 m3 and had no problems there, but picture attached shows the yellow part that has corroded/rusted inside and keeping the ball at end of the cable stuck.
On the m3 we did, the yellow part came out freely with the subframe side pipe. On my case it has rusted on first part and pulling it hard didn't do anything.

Any tips how to get it off?

Just undo the other end?

They just popped out with little force today after spraying some rust remover and letting them sit overnight.

Funny how big of a difference some liquid can make, they were like welded yesterday.

Reviving an old thread but, I just did this tonioght, so, thought it might be helpful for someone in the future.....

Grabbed the housing with big vise grips, twisted, twisted, pulled, more T &P and eventually the housing pulled ut of the aluminum ferrule at the steel pipe to the body.

I'd sprayed some homebrew acetone/ATF all over the joint a few minutes prior, so, figured why not give it a try.

Vise grips on the aluminum ferrule, and I could feel and see a TINY bit of rotation relative to the pipe as I twisted it. Worked it back and forth a bit while levering hard on the inner cable and managed to pop it loose after a few minutes. It went better than I expected.
