dual electric exhaust cutouts
Pardon me because I come from the world of GM LSX performance, but has anyone tried installing dual electric cutouts behind the downpipe (but before the rear cats). This would essentially bypass any need for cat back exhaust...you could run stock exhaust aft of the cutouts which would enable a tame sounding ride, then for racing conditions you could open the cutouts for max power and wicked sound. With this TT 6 cylinder application are there technical reasons to NOT do this? From VIP's post on his record breaking run, he had mentioned cutouts. The idea just doesn't seem very popular around here...anyone tried it or know if it would work?

Since you mentioned VIP its automatically going to go downhill for this thread.
But, what you are talking about has been discussed before, and if i remember correctly it was scalbert that created that thread. I'll do some digging to see if i can find it. Edit: Never mind that other comment, here you go: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127214
