Water stains and rims

I cannot for the life of me get these hard water stains off my paint, I've tried vinegar and a variety of things from autozone that says it'll remove hard water stains. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use that will remove them? Aside from me scraping it off and risking damaging my paint? Also my rims are stained with dirt and no amount of hot water and soap or solvents I've found have been very effective, any suggestions for that as well?

Both. You’re going to need a cleaner wax at a minimum depending on how strong they are. A machine will make short work of them. Then make sure you use a good wax of ceramic to prevent it in the future.

You need a water spot remover at minimum. Look up Yvan from DIY Detail's videos on removing water spots on YouTube.

I had the same issue on my hood-water spots everywhere. Ultimately, after trying several different approaches (vinegar, Carpro descale, Sonax polis), the only way i was able to remove the water spots was thru paint correction as this was most aggressive but was successful. I used Meguires 105 Ultra-Cut correction compound with foam pad. Looks perfect now. As other members mentioned, once you remove spots and achieve results you’re happy with, make sure to use some method of paint protection that will hopefully reduce chances of occurring again. I now use Jescar power lock plus for paint sealant and have no issues with spotting. Good luck!

Has anyone tried this water spot remover product from Chemical Guys? If yes, did it work and did you also use one of their detailing sprays like Speed Wipe afterwards?

So after trying a bunch of different methods, which by the way the polish worked amazingly but I ran out of it quick. I just took a bottle of half water half vinegar and sprayed the whole car down and let it sit on there for like 20-30 minutes, then came back and sprayed it again and used a rag to wipe them down which left a bunch of smudges. Took my car to the car wash with all the smudges and it emerged looking brand new.
