Need a new desktop: Alienware, Mac Pro, Falcon Northwest, or full custom build?

I have 2 macs and 2 PCs in my house. I doubt I'll ever buy another PC, regardless of price, as the macs blow the PCs away - period.

I pretty much agree for my personal use. I've been a PC guy all my life, but I got a Macbook a earlier this year and now I rarely touch my PC. It turned into a royal waste of money considering it's a pretty beefy system too.

I just installed VMware Fusion on my Mac Pro.. The thing runs windows so much better than other PCs lol. And the best thing about it is I can drag and drop files from finder into an explorer window.

So does anyone have a suggestion (with good reasons) on whether I should load the new computer with XP or with Vista.

i say xp. imo, its alot cleaner than vista junk laying around everywhere. and everything feels much 'faster'.
also, u cant compare the compatibility to vista (even with the sp1's and whatnot, i still say XP is the shit)

if you want some eyecandy, you can always go with some visual patches and sidebar addons

Vista is a resource hog, go with either a) XP or b) wait for longhorn...aka Windows 2008/2009 (end of this year or early next year)

I have an alienware laptop, which is great but don't buy their desktops! WAY TOO OVERPRICED

Erm, "Longhorn" was Vista's code name back in the day. It's already out. You're talking about Windows 7 and it probably won't be out until at least 2010.

Not even looking forward for windows 7. Gave up on windows along time ago... Only use it to play games, other than that, its Mac all the way.
