steering lock issue

I have the red steering-wheel and padlock symbol. Steering lock was a little unwilling to release at one point - but otherwise seems to be working fine. Is this a common issue?
And DIY fixable?

I gather commonly caused by low battery voltage and I know mine is getting weak. maybe that's it

try the search, aparently a software update (of the car) solves the issue also.

I have replaced the battery. At MOT yesterday the guys said the immobiliser fault usually caused by a weak battery.

How do I reset the BCM so the steering wheel light goes away?
