Clutch Pedal Compression Spring Popping

Took this thing apart to replace the master cylinder and since I put everything back together the compression spring is popping unseated on pedal release after full depression. I tried spinning the spring and it seemed to help a bit but didn't fix the issue. Anybody else run into this? Not sure what else to try since the two cylinders it rests on are obviously seated (or it wouldn't work at all). Still functional, but definitely annoying.
