used convertible car ideas?
everyday we are approaching close to 100 here in denver and i see lots of convertable cars on the road. thinking about getting mysellf one as i've never owned convertables before.
any ideas on what to get? i don't wanna spend too much $$$ as i already have 3 cars. thinking about spending 20k max for a good used one. what are your experiences with convertibles? is owning one as good as it seems? comments appreciated |

I have a 2000 SLK230 Sport. Awesome car. Use it everyday, has over 77,000 miles on it. Fun to drive, hard top convertible (best of both worlds), 30 mpg on the highway, and gets a lot of looks.
Some pics of mine. K

or mustang, get like a 04 05 GT
or a used TT, pretty new mini or new smart, Solara, or even an old 3 series convertible. With a 20,000 budget for a used car, you got a lot of options. I would get the corvette around 99-01. it should come in just around 20K Last edited by samwoo2go; 07-24-2008 at 07:52 PM.. |

Krueger...nope, it's not my house. as a matter of fact, it's not even a house hehehe...that's Hush Restaurant off Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach.
... OT...you may also want to consider a Porsche Boxster...those can be easily had for $20k. Only thing about the Boxster is the maintenance cost can be expensive even though it's an "entry level" Porsche. Good luck ! K

1. S2000 (FTW!) You can get em cheap, and they're just amazing cars all around, can't go wrong at all.
2. 350Z convertible (I have a Z, and they're great, but the vert top looks funny up on them, but they're great cars, so definitely worth it.) 3. There is none... you can get a nicer car for under $20k, but it'll be really expensive, have high miles, and be a pain to maintain. (Unless you get a domestic POS.)

In regards to the S2000/350Z comparison...

Without any BS, at $20k, 05~06 S2000 should be your best bet if you are into performance roadster.
NOTHING beats S2K in used price range for the performance and driving experience. It's sheer sex on the wheel at 9k rpm with engulping intake sound. Whole new experience compare to euro sports cars. Try it. You will never regret. I'm damn so sure about that. |
