Exclamation New here! Please Help! Battery Compatible? Having doubts.

So pretty sure my battery was dead.

I needed a new battery and I needed an economical one. I bought this battery from Advanced Auto Parts:

Value Battery Battery: H6 Group Size, 615 CCA, 765 CA,
95 Minute Reserve Capacity.

It said this battery is compatible with my 2011 BMW 328i XDrive.

Can anyone confirm this for me? It's not the same size as my original battery. The original battery is the BMW factory battery.

I did try to install it and got the power going. This was before I realized it needed to be reprogrammed and registered. My car will still not start when I push the start button, and I'm assuming it's because of the reprogramming?

I did try to reset it from the trip button and got nothing. The whole problem could be not related to the battery at all though.

...but I just want to make sure this battery will work in my car.

Thanks.

I

Pretty sure group 49 H8 is the proper size. I just did mine with 92AH H8 AGM.

It could be a number of things really. If you have the means, get a decent scanner to read codes which will point you in the right direction and save you lots of money down the road.

Registration would not affect it in that way. Registering the new battery simply informs the IBS that there is new battery so it will handle it accordingly to prolong battery life.

Coding the battery is only needed when you change type (Flooded / AGM) or capacity.
90-98AH is in class 90AH then next class is I believe 100-110AH.

So my 92AH did not require coding because I already had 90AH AGM in the system.

My last battery was not the correct size and I'm pretty sure it was never registered which is why it went out after about 3-4 years. Properly installed and maintained battery in these cars are like 6-7 according to everything I've looked into.

Hope you get it figured out!
