Kinda necroing this thread but you folks seem smart on seat swaps so...any other issues going the other way (LCI seat into pre-LCI chassis) that I should be aware of? It is an E93 so the seat is "special" already compared to regular ones.

And, you dont have to disable the active headrests, either, if you dont want - you can swap them - thats what I did. There's a video here:

Its not that difficult just some time and zip ties. If you have an interior trim removal kit you can pop the seat back retainers off and re-use them, as well.
Hey RJ, any info on how to pair the new passenger seat occupancy mat sensor? I had the dealer replace mine under warranty but they were unable to do it with their tool as I have an idrive emulator and some other custom coding. Can I use NCSexpert? Thanks!

I just swapped 08 e90 m3 seats ( pre LCI) into my LCI 2009 e90 335d. Direct bolt on with all functions working including side borders. Only thing I need to code out is the activate head rests. I initially had heated electronic base seats

Interesting, wondering if it worked because they were used before (I.e. seat mat previously enabled) vs getting a new one from dealer.

Hey there people, I also found a trashed E91 with the same saddle brown leather interior color as mine has and it has the sport seats whereas mine has not. The car is an LCI but the interior is still the "old" one if that makes sense? So probably 2009 or sth.
Can anyone tell me what year the new seats came or is the whole interior (door panels and seats front, rear) exactly the same LCI-old-int and LCI-new-int?
Thanks in advance!

Figured it out, there was an option to re-encode MRS unit for the passenger occupancy sensor on my handheld Foxwell scanner. Worked perfectly.

I just swapped in a set of Pre-LCI sport seats into my LCI E91. I removed the good seat belt buckles from my non sport seats and bolted them to the Pre-LCI seats and placed the wire into the assembly under the seat.

I did not code out the active headrests, or trick them, or retrofit them, so I expect the airbag light to appear.

In addition, I get the Pass Restraint System warning as mentioned previously in this thread.

I do not have coding tools, but I believe some local folks do and are willing to help me out. Before bugging them I am trying to understand the order of operations I should undertake.

Code out active headrests and clear airbag fault code?
Code in new (old seat) occupancy sensor to the car?

Any insight is appreciated, this kind of stuff is not my strength.

If you didn't unplug the battery before swapping seats, you'll need to clear the airbag faults first. Do that, then code out the headrests.

I have a 2008 pre LCI e91 325d SE touring, decided to buy some 2011 sport LCI seats from a 335i. got them in and working no problem, now getting an inspection error message as well as having to set the clock each time i start the car. any ideas what this could be? i did disconnect the battery before doing it.

AND you STILL need to clear the light with a scanner capable of resetting SRS codes even after it detects the fix (clearing without a resistor won't do shit though, you gotta do both)

Cheapest scanner capable of clearing SRS faults on bimmers was the C110+ when I looked into it ... costs about $43 on amazon
Do you know what resistor you need to use ?

You shouldn't need a resistor, just coding for active headrests. Unless you boys over there are getting different seats than we are here.
