G87 Break-In Exhaust

My G87 arrives in 1-2 weeks and I’ve had the AA EL midpipe for about 3 months now for when the car arrives. Has anyone performed any exhaust mods prior to the break-in period? Did your dealer happen to mention anything at the time if you did?

I obviously know this is dealer-dependent, but just trying to gauge if I should wait until after the 1200 mile break-in to mess with the exhaust. Thanks in advance

The break in is mainly for the internal engine and drivetrain components. I doubt changing an exhaust impacts anything. You might want to see how the OEM exhaust does first before splashing money on it. It's your money of course.

Yeah, I agree, I don't think installing it before break in would mess anything up. I'd hit up your local dealer to make sure they're cool with you doing it before the warranty goes belly-up.

I swapped my Midpipe and added in a Valve Controller just after 400 miles and never had a issue with the Dealer. As others have said it won't effect the engine other than add more bite to the exhaust. Full disclosure I did keep the OEM Midpipe section in one piece just in case I want swap back.

I had my AA EL mid installed prior to break in. All that was said during service was that exhaust was in good shape with no visible rust or damage lol.

Okay great. I’m really looking forward to the sound of the EL so I think I’ll prob have it installed prior to break in per everyone’s info

Telling you, it's mean with engine in sport+ and trans in d3. Enough where I am still considering keeping the rest of the exhaust stock. Though once in a while, a dp or ab paired with it does catch my ear.

Just installed IRL single midpipe at 500 miles. My experience so far.. about the same quality of sound at normal mode, but a lot of burbles and increase of sound at M1/M2 modes. However, exhaust definitely smells bad.. I can smell it while driving with open windows and at my apartment garage
