Klasse Sealant Glaze ... Help!
I applied the 1st layer of Klasse Sealant Glaze (SG) last weekend. After a week later, I realize there are a lot of residues left on the car (most noticeable on the hood). What am I doing wrong? Did I use too much SG or is this normal after a couple of rainstorms? I wide off the SG right after I apply it to a section of the car (Aprox 1-2 minutes dry time), did I waited too long?
I’m planning to put a 2nd layer this weekend, any advice?

Yup, you waited too long to remove the SG. You should immediately wipe the SG off. If you let it sit for 1 or 2 minutes, then you are giving it time to dry. SG dries very quickly. Don't let it sit for more than 10 or 15 seconds before wiping it off.

A couple things. First, it sounds like you're experiencing streaking which I've seen happen when SG wasn't fully buffed off the car. The nice thing is to remove it, all you need to do is apply more SG then properly buff it. So let's get to that:
A lot of folks like the wipe on/wipe off method for SG. Others like to let it sit for hours. The important part is not to let it sit for longer than 10-15 seconds seconds, *OR* less than say, 4 hours. It's that 30 second - 4 hour window that seems to make SG tough to remove, so either do the wipe on/wipe off method (literally, wipe it on, spread it in, flip the cloth and wipe it off) OR apply it and let it sit for 4+ hours. The only trick to that is you need to apply it *super* thin. So thin is almost doesn't look like it's going on; ya, that thin. This is how I would go about your second application: Find a cool shaded spot, wash the car. Assuming your doing nothing else, apply SG. It helps to apply it with a slightly dampened applicator. Remember, so thin you almost can't see it. Trust me, it's there. If you're in a nice cool garage or it's cool out (not humid), wait 4+ hours. If it's hot or humid or you just want to do it quickly, wipe off immediately with a dry mf cloth. If you do wait 4+ hours it sometimes helps to remove it with the aid of a quick detailer. If you do the wipe on/wipe off, it's lierally that quick. Spead it on, wipe it off. If you find you're still getting streaks in the future, get a little more SG, apply it to the steaked area and wipe right off. The oils in the SG will help soften the un-removed previous application so it's easier to buff off. Good luck! |

What I heard is that the longer the SG stays on, the easier it is to buff off. Visit autopia.org. You can learn a lot about car detailing there.
You are probably applying too much. Are you layering it? You need to wait 24hrs before applying another layer. You can use any type of QD to help buff off the SG. I use Eagle One. Before you apply AIO or SG, spray a little (dime size) Eagle One QD on the applicator pad than add on the AIO or SG. It makes it easier to apply and buff off.

I generally remove Klasse AIO immediately after finishing one panel. However, I usually let SG stay for a few minutes before removing (I will cover about 1/4 of the car, then remove before starting the next section).
The most common reason for having streaks is when you apply too much. You only need a tiny amount of SG to get the job done. I am still using the same bottle I bought 6 years ago.
