Alternate M3 Front Control Arms
I've read about the recent issues with the TRW M3 front control arms and ECS lists them as backordered, but I see there's this set from 034 Motorsports available as well, does anyone have any experience with these?

ECS doesn't usually sell junk so I'm sure they're fine, however the hardware pictured is a major turnoff for me. I prefer the OEM style nuts that have the attached washer.

Interesting, I've never heard of this kit before. The Malaysian TRWs seem to be junk so I'd say give them a try! 034 engine mounts have like a 100% failure rate but hopefully these are better and ECS will replace them if they do fail.

the mount issue is cause the exhaust is too close, no matter what mount you use a heavy duty heat shield is recommended

LOL sorry, didn't mean to scare you off! I guess I was saying we KNOW the TRWs are junk now that they're made in Malaysia so I'd rather an unknown than a known junk.
Good to know on the heat shield, too. Didn't know that. Last edited by whyzee125; 01-23-2024 at 06:54 PM.. |

How are you coming to the conclusion that the Malaysian TRW arms are junk? I have one on my E93 335i; ordered a pair, one from Germany and the other from Malaysia. So far no issues.

Interesting. I have one Malaysian made TRW M3 arm of the pair I installed a few months ago (other side is from Germany). I thought I heard a clunk from that side while turning in my driveway but wasn't sure, I'll definitely be looking out now.
