How to remove E9x throttle pedal
Easy 5 min DIY job.
You will need: -Flat head screwdriver with a thin tip -Torx T30 screwdriver -Vacuum (optional) 1.) Use the flat head screwdriver to pop out the small round screw cover on the base of the throttle assembly. Put it somewhere safe - it's easy to lose especially if you have black carpet. 2.) Unscrew the Torx T30 screw. 3.) Pull the base of the assembly slightly up and forwards, (towards the steering wheel) just enough to free the base. The base is held in place by a positioning pin that is next to the Torx screw and enters the floor at the same angle as the screw. 4.) Slide the assembly forward and up along the floorboard (towards the engine). The back of the assembly is held in place by a hook. 5.) The throttle is connected with a wiring harness. Pinch the sides and it pulls right off. 6.) At this point, if you're as neurotic as I am, you'll want to get out the vacuum to clean up before you put everything back together. Amazing how much crud builds up in the crevices where the vacuum attachments can't normally reach. Good Luck! |

Looks easy until you try it yourself. That clip ain't coming off. I even broke the tabs and it still stuck. Trying to install a Sprint Booster now... dang, don't know what else to do. Wish there was a photos of the wire harness disconnected so I can see which parts are separated or welded to the plastic harness. |

I had no idea it was so easy and quick to remove the pedal assembly! Thanks to this I was finally able to clean up the decade of grime and salt in this area which was previously not possible to reach.

Is there no issue with unplugging the accelerator pedal? Any pedal relearn procedure that must be done, or is it just unplug and plug back in?
