Coding Failed on Combox retro fit
Hi,
Can you look over this for me and see where I'm going wrong? 2010 E91 LCI TCU only, Aux only, Pro nav Added a BN2000 Combox, shaved down the BT aerial tab and plugged that in. plugged in MOST ring repined plug as per picture below, nothing with power in 2 so tried power in 1 and same (only have one power wire it seems some guide surges having 2) I had a blue and a brown left over in my TCU plug so read somewhere else to add the brown to COMBOX pin 14 so I did, no change when I unplug my MOST wire I get a red light in the wire on one side. but no red light on the Combox? which seems wrong? Coding: I changed my VO to as follows in the pics but basically changed date to 03/11 Delete $633, $612, $616, and add the following instead: $614, $615, $644; $6AL; $6FL; $6NF; $6VC and $6NR process ecu MEDIA shows in here FA WRITE to CAS FA WRITE to NFRM this works SG CODIEREN TO CIC this works, can see bluetooth audio in the idrive SG CODIEREN MEDIA this fails, says coding active then coding failed with the below message which kinda hints at my Combox wiring? in idrive when I click bluetooth audio it just stays on please wait? thanks! |

until you will not get CMEDIA in identification job, you may not try to code it
but you sould understand that your packet to CMEDIA goes thru 2 CAN bus gateways JBE translate from OBD to K-CAN and CIC is traslate it from K-CAN to MOST bus so you need code them as well, and specifically code MOSTGW, may be they have to update their gateway table with new recipient

Thank you, It shows up in NCS now as an ECU from choose ecu but that’s probably just as I added the $6VC VO? Hence I thought I’d check the INPA Ah so when I did the SG CODIEREN CIC I should then do the same for MOSTGW Before I attempt the media one? Then hopefully the media will be successful? I’m a bit new to coding and on the steep part of the learning curve so thank you ! Also a bit concerned I don’t have any red lights on the combox MOST in/out plug? The plug and wire its self have one side lit up. But I’ve read the COMBOX should have a lit up terminal?! |

you need to get red light from combox too
if you didn't, then you didn't powered it, or module is not working or you have fuse burned for this circuit

If that works I’ll switch the power wire to 2 see if that helps (can’t recall if I tried that after adding the earth) From there it’s probably another combox ! |

Okay, mostly success!
Confirmed 12v across the pins. Tried the power back in pin slot 2 Plugged it in and had a red light on and off again slowly. Result ! Plugged it in it works! Can see the previous combox owners linked phones then added mine and can get music to play! Got very limited office and no apps but tbh I don’t have the armrest USB yet so not especting the world yet! Thanks for your help, think I still need to code the MOSTGW or no as it’s working now? Guess it means I got a tele combox?! |

Saying that.
I still havnt re done that SG CODIEREN MEDIA step as it failed before so I guess that’s a the first thing to do and while I’m at it MOSTGW then ? With the new VO is that what it’s telling those modules? |

the best way is
upgrade firmware in all modules cic uppgrade will require 1-2 hours , you need external charger to finish that code all relevant modules if you cannot upgrade now, then code gateway modules, cic and then code combox

Is that via I COM cable? Might have to find somewhere that can do that for me in the future, like you say. Short term I’ll code those for now and look at adding USB, Hardware wise is it literally the plug/socket for the armrest and a long enough cable to make it to the black round plug on the combox? |
