X5 Skyscraper Grey compared to 7 series Brooklyn Grey

I’m sure there has been a thread somewhere in Bimmerpost comparing these two colors (note to mods as I was unsuccessful with search function), as I took these photos outside at the Performance Center recently. Brooklyn and Skyscraper are very poplar colors, as I noticed a lot of velichles leaving BMW Manufacturing on the car trailers when I’m driving in the South Carolina upstate on I-85 and I-26. BMW is also pushing the red calipers Skycraper, but I’m biased to the traditional blue calipers, but red calipers would pair well with most interiors except with silverstone (has a bluish hue) and fjord blue. Both blue and red are primary colors.

I was torn between these two colors. Ultimately went with SSG with red calipers on my M60i and happy with it. Might order a M440i in BG to replace wife's A5. Best of both worlds.

Skyscraper Grey looks very much like Space Grey.

I love both shades and the decision is very subjective. I prefer red calipers on grey cars as it is more of a contrast unless the interior color is blue or grey.

I'm getting a little tired of seeing Brooklyn Grey and all its similar colors on everything from Tacoma trucks to Subarus. And Skyscraper is really just BMW's slow reaction to the customer backlash from discontinuing every lighter color except white. Silver and Space Grey went away. Skyscraper is as good a replacement for Space Grey and we're going to get right now. Remember when BMW used to have 50-Shades-of-Grey? Now it's closer to four shades of black and two of white.

Skyscraper reminds me of the Silver Grey of the E46 era.

100% and the reason I got a G80 in SSG! When I was a teen my computer screen background was an E46 in Silver Grey, and to this day I am always on the hunt for one.

Ditto, I am seeing more and more of this color scheme. While I realize people want to be seen above others. But the color is fugly. Not withstanding the bucky beaver tooth front grill on the 7 Series

Skyscraper grey all day, every day!! Brooklyn Gray could just as easily be named Battleship Gray.

I’ve really grown to love my Skyscraper grey. The look is really different in the sun vs shade as well as in the garage vs outdoors.

I was torn between the two on my recent order but eventually settled on Skyscraper Grey. I like how it looks silver in bright sunlight and edges more toward grey when overcast. I think silver/grey metallic is more timeless. Not hating on Brooklyn Grey tho it's sharp as hell looking in person. Esp with the m sport package.
