On the other hand, a user on here (who I'm still trying to reach) has all the equipment and offers to do the job for $400 or so (with some glowing reviews). I still need to get it done but I'd rather not fork over thousands if I can help it.

I wouldn't trust a 400$ cbu job.

All,
I recommend anyone who is paying for a carbon cleaning to require before and after pictures. That way you are sure of your results. Just be sure they are not providing pictures of another car's CBU cleaning results.
