4A17 alternator.... voltage dropped to 11 while driving, car wouldnt start again

My old man says alternator troubles usually = brushes, but nobody sells em it seems....

335d seems to use an M5/M6 alternator for some reason.... no i really dont relish buying a new one

Two things I've found for 335d alternator repairs:
1) branded "voltage regulator" modules -- Valeo $69, identical looking kit branded BMW $155 --- which it seems MIGHT contain said brushes ...do they???

2) alternator repair kit that claims to include the Valeo regulator "with brushes", as well as two bearings and something called a tolerance cap all for $49

Does the latter look trustworthy?

Or can 4A17 mean something else entirely?

Did you throw a voltmeter on a couple different areas to make sure the alternator wasn't charging?
Just googling the code really quick, it could be related to the Intelligent battery sensor as well

From what I googled, IBS has its own codes.... also, I noticed that my scanner has been showing "alternator load" stuck at 95% for a while now
