2010 320i E91 N46 - Oil Level.
Hey everyone, I've got a 2010 320i with the electronic oil level sensor, I did a travel of around 800-900kms one way, I checked the oil for about 3 days every morning before driving around, I did a stop overnight in a town about 300kms from my hometown the oil level was full when I left so then the next day at home after the car sat for a bit I checked the oil it read below minimum? If I keep driving around and it reaches low levels while travelling will it tell me automatically its low or do I have to go into the oil checking menu to see if it needs that additional 1L?
Thanks Everyone. |

First, take a deep breath, as your BMW holds about 7 qts. If you're actually downe qt, it's not a problem. If your down 2 qts, it's probably not a problem.
Remember, most engines of the same size hold 5 qts BMW will tell you when you don't have enough oil to drive. That being said, I hate the electronic level sensor, which I think is used so the crankcase can be sealed and reduce emissions. If you doubt the level sensor, the only way is to drain the oil and measure, or change the level sensor. |
