Do new H&R springs need spring seats
So I am planning on doing suspension refresh with Bilstein B8 struts/shocks and H&R lowering springs. H&R Sport 50490-4 is the spring set i am planning on running. I am wondering if i need to replace the rear spring pads as the neither the b8 kit or the h&r springs come with new rear pads or if the new springs even need the pads. The real oem diagram of the rear assembly shows both upper and lower spring pads so i am a bit confused on if those need to go on lowering springs or what the deal is.

Lowering springs do need the pads. Potentially if you have adjustable height suspension the adjusters on the top of the rear springs may not have pads? Not sure, but not applicable here anyway.
It's recommended to replace the pads if you have a significant amount of miles on your car as they do wear out over time. I'm sure others will chime in as to what "significant" means. If you're spending the time and money to do this I'd just pop new spring pads in at the same time. Same deal on the front. |
