Driving with evacuated A/C and Evaporator recommendations?
Hi all,
I’m preparing to replace the heater core and evaporator in my E90. The A/C shop is about 2 miles away from my home, and I know the system needs to be evacuated before replacing the evap / heater core. Given the compressor is “always on” in the E90, am I fine driving it from and to the A/C place with the system empty? I don’t know if there’s individuals near me who are mobile and qualified to evacuate the system. Also, does anyone have experience with the OEM Valeo evaporator (as opposed to the OE BMW Valeo one)? I’ll be going with a genuine BMW heater core but didn’t know if the Valeo evaporator was a fine substitute for the OE BMW one. Last edited by Hoody007; 04-01-2024 at 09:43 PM.. |

you are fine, the ac system will shut off if there's no refrigerant pressure in the system. even though the compressor is always spinning, its duty cycle will be 0.
