car dials 911 every time i start the car
i have a 07 e90 335i that had ccc and i drive with usb / aux in the center arm rest and tcu mulf in the trunk, the car also has the harmon kardon logic 7 amp and speakers.
i was perusing through the local junkyard that had over 10 e90's and was able to buy the correct model combox bn2000 from a 2011 e90 along with the display, radio, usb wire, usb glove box port and i cut out what i wanted from whatever they were all connected to meaning i had all the harnesses / connectors with them so that if i failed at repinning tcu to unit i wouldn't need to order anything else, i could just cut, strip, and crimp as a back up plan. oh and i also took off the usb extension cable from center console armrest aux and usb cable its about a foot and a half in length which solved needing to buy an extension cable kinda... they are the wrong color and shape, if your not careful after swapping connectors you wil have rotated the 4 wires 90 degrees and thus f*d up your usb connection (i made sure it was correct before plugging in the connect on the wire once the colored plastic is removed there is a metal square shape with only 1 side that has a triangle of the corner removed so that you can make sure the connection is true in orientation because if all you did was shave it would be rotating and messing up the 4 pins inside changing from a 12 43 to a 41 32 so the only thing i had to order was the mulf most fiber loop terminator. i was following most of the steps on a video from youtube and every now and then a blogger. i couldnt download bmw standard tools so i got the mikes easy bmw tools and when i was following the how to video on youtube my ncsexpert profile was simply different there wasnt a start, chassis, cas, on mine i had just had chassis , afterwards still no cas option i do have protools and i've been using protools when i can but there isn't a clear step by step write up so i've had to learn fast along the way. well i got the stereo finally to work, and the bluetooth audio and the telephone, haven't tried texting yet.. i went to bed last night accomplished thinking i solved it all everything but navigation (i would handle that another day) i slept and so did the car, in the morning it was different, i could hear a phone ringing as an outbound call and then heard 911 what is your emergency! yeah that was an awkward call... found out its every time i start the car that it calls 911 i want to say after 90 seconds of starting the engine. did i repin something wrong or add the wrong option to the vo? |

Not a trivial task
It's very hard to guess what may have happened if you were not following a prescribed recipe. I recently completed the CCC>CIC retrofit on 2 cars and it is a very specific process. VO dates and options have to be changed in a certain order or you will not get the desired outcome.
I do recall issues stated, relating to SOS, which were rectified with KOMBI default coding at a certain point. I also have ProTool and first attempted the retrofit using that, but the interface differences did not give me confidence to finish, so I fell back on "standard tools", and was successful using this thread from FaxData. ProTool makes several steps much easier; writing the VIN to the CIC and COMBOX, VO manipulation, etc. But for the advanced functions (NAV, voice activation, connected drive) you are going to have to dive into FSC codes and how to manipulate them. Another option would be to have someone remote code it for you. It sounds like you have all the hardware in place. I also assume you re-pinned the MULF & TCU connectors into the 26 pin for the COMBOX? This is one of the most difficult parts of the retrofit and can easily cause odd behavior like you describe, if even one pin is in the wrong place. |

it was pinned wrong
i was able to repin it a second time and it solved the 911 emergency are you in a safe location call every time i started the car. I was able to get the combox to work and i connect bluetooth audio to the head unit. only thing left is the navigation. i got as far as using a usb with the patcher file to attempt to devirginize it, but... standard tools is not on the bimmer geeks website anymore i tried mikes easy bmw tools, i have inpa, ntsc expert and dummy, fstool2 tool32 winkfp and the swtpatcher-v2 tool. but i couldn't find the keygen and my fstool wouldnt load properly, or my ntsc either.. using the patcher usb in the glovebox i got the display to flash red for that initial 20 second thing and now i'm stuck with a broke fstool and a missing kekgen

Good news
Glad you got the crossed wires fixed, it sounds like you are almost at the finish line. If you reference the thread above, go to the section "activating locked features" and follow it exactly.
First you will need to set the VIN in the CIC & COMBOX. You may have already done this and you can use ProTool if you haven't. Starting around step 4 you will have to get FStool2 going, which is very tricky if not using the version listed. (02.02.00) You will need 1B & 19 certs at least for NAV and I would suggest also 17 for voice control, which is pretty handy for entering NAV destinations. Once you are able to access the NAV menu, it will ask for your activation code. The only way is to get the 1B file from the patcher program. (There is another way with ENET, but much more involved) I was having problems with this step until I found a very small USB drive (128MB) and formatted with FAT file system, not FAT32. The USB has to be smaller than 4GB to use FAT. Then I think the key was to look at the drive once from the interface. Go to "CD/Multimedia" and select the USB stick. Mine had an access light on it and as soon as I did that, I could see activity. On the second car, I had to do it several times and left it in for about 2-3 minutes. Once you have your 1B file the rest is easy. |

you mentioned following the others i will say that protools vin coding does not cover all 3 areas needed for the cic when it gets the greyed out navigation. It seems like recently there has simply been a lock out of what's available online, standard tools is gone,i can't get the mikes tools which was suppose to update all the sp-datum and initial files etc to do that part and is the reason maybe that i'm having so many issues. learned a little about profiles in ncsexpert using tool32 i was able to do the ai schreiben 9 part coding for 2 of the 3 parts of the cic, i couldn't get the cic-hd to update and would get error messages, i also could not get any of them to update when i saved everything copy pasted from a text document, i had to type in manually all the info for it to read 50/50 and write correctly 1 out 10 times. i tried updating the maps in the glovebox and it "took it" asked for a fsc key, i entered what i got and i'm pretty sure its 1 digit short? got a decline every time, i got the 1b file so, i know the usb works. then i noticed my combox even though its c1a had an available update, tried the UPD01006.bin with a 2gb thumb drive that lights up as well and it recognized it, but gave another message and didn't update. that and when i plugged my iphone into into it i could get music and album art to show on the display i know also that the usb connection is working as well. so.. i heard using winkfp and then also hearing the person in my boat that did that bricked the stereo now i'm just disappointed without navigation and not wanting to deal with it anymore.

That is great! You will need the 1B file to generate the code that you WILL enter once the NAV option is functional. You will need Jaeger's code generator and use your 1B file as the source. Quote:
I would be glad to help out if you need any of the programs or assistance with your upgrade. |
