FWIW, it seems pretty easy in my feeble little brain to do this...
If access to this plug is so easy as explained in the pics, Could you mount a small toggle switch in your dash or console and wire it up to that plug? Then you would have a switch to either open or close the flap as desired.... just sayin |

Had a problem you could say.
I had this portion on my car already open cause I was working on the stereo. I saw this post and thought, "I know that part. I'll do this!" Did it, sounded nice, drove, literally, 1/4 mile and it backfired/misfired, check engine light came on, and the car no longer had boost. I got out, put the sensor back, still no boost, AND when I'd start the car the RPMs would drop and almost stall, then jump back up. Took it to a mechanic (BMW could get me in for a full week), he said the vacuum tube for the boost popped out and broke, and that the exhaust flap is just a coincidence. Regardless, I'm terrified to do this again. TL;DR Had engine problems right after doing this mod, mechanic says it's a coincidence. |

Decided I wanted to do a muffler and resonator delete and still kept the plug unplugged. Still problem-free. |

So I'm an idiot apparently, I can't remove the trim piece that's on the side of the light assembly panel. I didn't want to try and force it...suggestions?

Unplugging from the trunk didn't seem to do much for me. If I'm going uphill slightly and hovering around 2,000 RPM I will very noticeably hear what I assume to be my exhaust flap open, because it deepens and burbles like hell, but resets after only a few seconds - any idea how to make it permanent? Couldn't seem to find where the rubber plug under the car is either, the vacuum line.

Cannot find plug!

My e90 doesn’t have this plug? It’s a 2009 e90 330d LCI manual (right hand drive). Any idea why mine has no plug? |
