I have a 08 E92 without I drive but I have a extra screen and the full dash just laying around that I pulled at a junk yard and was wondering if there was a way I could use the screen without any of the extra Idrive stuff. Id want to somehow connect the screen up in a way to act as a aftermarket screen that I see people do. I don’t need it to be the I drive software I just want the screen and some way to have CarPlay and play music through it. I don’t know the possibility of this or if anyone has done it but I think it would be a nice upgrade as I like the E92 I drive interiors more than the Non I drive.

Your best option is to use the dash and an Android unit. They fit perfectly in the space and not tied to any of the OEM iDrive stuff. They have screen mirroring as well (Android Auto / Carplay) etc.
