Bad timing chain?
I have a 2011 328xi and have had it for almost a year and I’ve put money into it. However it is still being worked on for a valve cover and valve gasket, I just think the timing chain is going too because when it idles it shakes, and after I drive it a bit and go to a stop for a light, the engine cuts and I have to restart it and it starts perfectly fine and drives fine until that happens again. The engine also cuts sometimes when I turn corners. There was also a high pitch whistling that was figured out as the valve cover but I’m just not sure if the timing chain is going and I should just get rid of the car because it’s a very expensive fix. FYI the car has 210,000 miles on it and there is very little wear and tear on interior and exterior just engine wise.

Why not replace the timing chain tensioner? Easy and cheap DIY job that might fix it...
