Can only see half my contacts after combox retrofit?

Hi all.

2010 e91 lci, factory CIC, idrive.

So I finally fitted a combox after years of putting it off.

I have an older c10 cic firmware if it makes a difference,
I coded the cic, media and kombi as per guide with change if date to 03/11 and added codes

Bluetooth music works.

But before I could see all my phone contacts, now I can only see about half with the second half all being “…”s

Anyone had this?
Wondering if it’s due to the combox or?

Cheers
Andy

COMBOX Firmware?

Hi Andy,

You could try updating the COMBOX firmware. My Android phone started behaving much more consistently after I did this.

Here is a thread that has the newest version, however I could not get the new one to update, had to use one version older. You just put in on a USB in the armrest and select update from the car settings menu.

I’ve seen that setting, I’ll confirm my software level but it’s probably old.
I need to add in the wiring for the USB (mine didn’t come with that stock so part way through that retro fit)

Then I’ll give that a go

Mine was also not 6FL from the factory. I found the OEM wire in a junkyard car and just plugged it into the COMBOX in the trunk for the update. I ran it later when I had time to remove the back seat and fish it through correctly.

Yeah I’ve seen shorter ones on eBay I could try, I brought a bmw usb/aux socket used as I heard after market ones were hit and miss.

What route did the cable take?

It goes under the carpet out the back of the center console. Then along the front edge of the rear seat, drivers side. Then back past the MOST distribution block and then with the rest of the wires going into the COMBOX tray area. I think it was about 2.5m in length, should have measured it.

I would second the OEM USB port, the one I pulled had actual metal in it!

That’s great thank you!
I’ve seen a lot that are 1.5m and I read those are too short for the proper routing
