Are the torque levels exactly the same between the base M3/M4 and M2 at 406ft lbs? Even a little more torque can really show up in a butt dyno.

I was meaning comparing a 2023/2024 M2 to a 2025 M2 once the 2025's are out in a few months. That would help answer some questions on this thread. If I meet someone locally in the future who gets a 2025 I would be willing to coordinate a dyno day.

All BMWs are underrated in power. You're suggesting that the 2025 M2 will be the only car in BMW's lineup that isn't underrated while the rest remain? I'm almost positive the 2025 M2 will make more power than the previous models. BMW NEEDS to increase power (imo) esp to keep up with competition. It also falls in line with the new power increase on the M3's and M4's.

Highly doubt you will find any valid comparisons with all variables being equal and simultaneous. As long as we are talking apples to apples, you should accept some of what is shown from respectable sources.

stock manual M3's were showing Dyno numbers closer to 500 in some tests, so I think there is a difference between the 2 and this 2025 upgrade will probably just have the same map for both cars. I doubt anybody would be able to feel the difference unless immediately going from one car to the other, but it may help with some of the low end grunt the G87 seems to be missing.

Well it doesn’t NEED to… whats the competition? I only cross shopped with a Mustang GT if comparing to a RWD Coupe, and RS3 if comparing a turbocharged compact-ish sports car. M2 makes more power than both already. But yes, i get your point. We’ll see in a few months

Same here. I try to be reasonable. Honestly, I can live with replacing clutch or transmission if it comes to it, but I doubt it.
The car is most fun I’ve had in a while. A year in and I still look forward to driving it back home after work. Still happy to take it for a random drive. Didn’t feel nearly as enthusiastic about my F80.
580hp, short shift kit, rwd. Yeah baby.

Yours is the best looking modified M2 out there!

LOVE the color.

And I agree with you 100%. This is the MOST fun BMW I've ever had (9 over the years).

In one fell swoop:

1- showed numbers are higher than advertised
2- showed numbers match the numbers of an advertised higher HP car (M4)
3- debunked the myth that cars make less power before the break-in service

Were the conditions the same when they tested both cars? I've said it before, but I seriously doubt BMW is just going to make an on-paper adjustment to the car. All of their cars have historically been conservative with the numbers they list and real world results. I'm sure the dyno results will be different when comparing a 24 and 25 M2, the real question will be if anybody will actually be able to notice it which is much less likely.

That HP increase is PEAK increase - how much more “under the curve?”
I bet it will absolutely be noticeable.
