Valvetronic motor replacement 2007 E90 320i

HELP!!! I have replaced my valvetronics servo motor and stuffed it up!! 😭

When I pulled out the old Valvetronic motor, I didn't "unscrew" the eccentric shaft and instead just pulled it out and the gear that the shaft sits into moved with it. So when I've put the new motor in, the shaft isn't sitting into the correct position on that gear and therefore is running like crap.

I want to try to rectify this issue by taking the new motor back out and putting it in properly, so....

My question is, how do I find out where exactly that gear is meant to sit in relation to the eccentric shaft when I've put the new motor in??
